WAHM (Work-At-Home-Moms) Year-Starter Workshop

WAHM? But how?

One of the biggest decisions I made this 2014 was when I decided to be a Stay-At-Home-Mom. It was a bit hard for me (again) since I'm used to being out and working/doing something all the time. It was when I got introduced to WAHM's (Work-At-Home-Moms) group on facebook that I got inspired to actually work at home. Thanks to Ms.Martine for introducing me to the WAHM community!(:

WAHMderful Year-Starter 2014

Learn and Get INSPIRED.

Last Saturday (January 18) was their 1st workshop for this year: WAHMderful Year-Starter Workshop. It was very timely since I really wanted to learn more about being a WAHM and how I can start.

The event started at exactly 10am at the 12th floor of the Insular Life Bldg. in Makati. Around 20 moms attended the workshop. Everyone was excited and had a story to share.

Branding for WAHMs

The very inspiring Ms.Martine De Luna of Make It Blissful

Martine De Luna started the talk about how we can brand ourselves and attract more clients. She guided us on how we can start our own brand and how we can strengthen it.

Here are some tips she shared on how we can strengthen our brand:

1. Define your target audience: attract the type of people who would love who you are.

2. Identify your UNIQUE value: find someone who will value you. Focus on what makes YOU necessary and valuable.

3. Craft your "elevator pitch": if you have 30-60 seconds to describe what you do, what would you say?

4. INVEST in your branding: whether it be a website or the packaging of your products, you have to make it standout and unique.

"Your BRAND is your CORE PURPOSE visualized and worded."

"Approach your brand with a PURPOSE. What sets you apart?"

Her talk was really informative and it helped me figure out how I can start my WAHM journey.

Moms all seriously listening as Ms.Martine shares her thoughts and insights

After her talk, Ms.Martine opened the floor for some questions and gave away some prizes to those who will ask one.

Prizes: Mother Care goodie bag and Start Something books by: Yeng Remulla

I was one of the lucky participants who got the book (YEY!(:) Just what I needed to start this new path I'm taking.

During the question and answer part, we were allowed to get our meals as we listen to the discussion.

A very delicious chicken meal!

Yummy cheesecake for dessert

After Ms.Martine answered all the questions and after we ate our delicious meal, it was time for the second speaker to take the floor.

Ms.Teresa was the next and last speaker for the day.

Ms.Teresa Gumap-as Dumadag of Full Life Cube, she is a Career Coach/Councilor and author of several books

She discussed to us on how we can manage our time effectively. But before she started her talk she asked us to stand up and massage the person beside us. It felt kinda good and relaxing!

Massage your seatmate!

I should keep this in mind!

WRITE it and LIVE it.

Her talk was very inspiring. She had worksheets for us to answer and discuss with our group mates.

My Top 5 Priorities in Life

She asked us to list down some important aspects in our daily lives. What we really live for and how we live our life. It really helped in determining what was essential and what was not.

Her very inspiring quotes and sayings got stuck in my head and it made me realize a thing or two of what is really important in my life right now.

I also realized that planning your time wisely will make you more effective and productive.

A beautiful Hallmark quote

The power is WITHIN us

One of the most inspiring verses I've read

Some of the things which inspired me from Ms.Teresa's talk:

"Be busy doing MEANINGFUL things."

"I'm a MOM first, then a WAHM."

"Doing more things faster is no substitute for doing the RIGHT things."

"Find your BALANCE."

"It takes TIME to EARN."

I believe the workshop helped each of us moms to find our niche. Everyone went home with lots of inspiration and what's more is that we gained a lot of new friends which we can relate to. We are now part of a community which has one goal: to live a WAHMderful life!(:
