Breastfeeding: A Journey Worth Taking (Book Launch)

BREASTFEEDING = DETERMINATION

Before I gave birth to my 1st son, I promised myself that I would (straight) breastfeed him. Most of my friends and acquaintances supported my decision and I was very excited and determined to do it. It was also nice to know that the country where MigMig (my 1st son) was born supports and is an advocate of breastfeeding. They even scheduled me for a Breastfeeding Class before I give birth.

But we can't avoid certain circumstances. I gave birth at 38 weeks to a healthy baby boy.(: I wasn't able to take any class before and after that as I was nursing my son (and myself as well) fresh from a CS delivery. It was easy at first since the hospital helped and supported me while I breastfeed my son. But when I went home it was so hard to do something I'm not really used to. It became frustrating and my baby became fussy. My breastfeeding journey only lasted for a month.

So when I was given another chance to try breastfeeding again, I was more determined. I now equipped myself with the right information and surrounded myself with supportive people. People who've been through this journey and who are advocates of breastfeeding. I am still praying that I will be successful in this journey.

And this Saturday (January 25), soon-to-be-moms, breastfeeding moms and advocates are invited as Teresa Gumap-as Dumadag launches her book:

Breastfeeding: A Journey Worth Taking

I was lucky enough to be one of the few people to "experience" her book which is so full of insights, stories and tips about breastfeeding. I love how she connected God with her journey and it made me realize that being able to breastfeed is a blessing. This inspired me even more to breastfeed and share what I have with my baby.

It's nice to know that I am not alone on this journey

The mission of this book is to:
-inspire
-help and educate
-equip and empower
-support
-assure
all the soon-to-be-moms, breastfeeding moms and advocates. It is a reminder for them/us that they/we are not alone.

Part 1: Why it's a Journey Worth Taking

I've just read the 1st part of the book and I'm already excited, inspired and determined to embark on this journey God has given me for the second time.
